Real estate, asset and portfolio management
Asset acquisition calls for expert knowledge, but asset preservation requires an entirely different skill set. Good management is essential to value preservation and, where possible, value enhancement. This also applies to real estate. Sound property management is therefore important and deserves just as much attention as acquisition.
Property management can be broken down into three separate aspects:
- Real estate at property level is about presenting unique objects in the best possible way. By making optimum use of financial, technical and commercial management resources, the potential of the property and client circumstances are maximised.
- Asset management is the process of managing assets in real estate portfolios with the objective of preserving and increasing their value. Assets can consist of shops, offices, dwellings or other exploitation-related real estate.
- Portfolio management is the process of managing the entire (real estate) portfolio with the objective of preserving and increasing value. This can be achieved by managing various assets or by actively acquiring or selling individual components of the portfolio with the aim of increasing or reducing certain portfolio assets.
